Wordpress 2.8 Upgrade Special!

Tweet this

Wordpress 2.8 was released today, and brings some notable improvements to the platform. Enhanced widget control, over 790 bug fixes and many speed improvements (navigating through the control panel is downright snappy now!).

If you’re currently using a previous version of Wordpress, you’ve got a lot to gain from this update. At The Blog Studio, we’re currently offering an upgrade to the latest version of Wordpress for $150! The service includes a backup of your current site and database (an essential, yet often ignored step), as well as performing the upgrade itself. Some conditions apply, contact Lucia at +1 (647) 428-7038 or today for more details.

So far 4 brave souls have left comments.

    Hey Lucia

I just upgraded my own blog to 2.8 wordpress cause i am techie like that but noticing some of my plugins and working anymore? Are you running into the same problems. As I wanted to test it on my blogs before I do this upgrade for clients?

    Hi Jon,

There’s always the possibility that an upgrade could break existing functionality provided by a plugin. As you probably know, plugins rely on the Wordpress core functions in order to operate. If those functions change as a result of an upgrade, your plugins may not have access to the resources they need to work properly.

Steps to lessen the chances of your site breaking from an upgrade:

    1. Avoid plugins unless they’re absolutely necessary.

    2. If you must have a certain element of functionality, and it can only be provided by a plugin, make sure you pick one from a reputable source. Many Wordpress plugins are developed in someone’s spare time, and can be poorly crafted, or even incomplete. Pick one, which has been reviewed, and tested by as many people as possible.

    3. If you’re really not sure, the best thing to do is to make sure the upgrade is done in a sandbox environment that will not affect your live site.

    4. If this all sounds scary, hire a pro. It’s almost always much less painful to play it safe and get it done right the first time.

Hope this helps all you upgraders out there!
